The battle against influenza this winter will get underway across England as the winter approaches, have you got your flu jab sorted?
The flu vaccine is the best protection we have against an unpredictable virus that can cause unpleasant illness in children and severe illness and death among at-risk groups.
Our Birmingham clinic is centrally located, we are accessible to all and our flexible appointments mean anyone can book a flu jab, at a time that suits them.
We offer three types of flu jab:
Quadrivalent Influenza inactivated virus vaccine (for ages 18 to 65 and children under 6 months)
Fluenz Tetra Live Nasal vaccine (for ages 24 months to 18 years old)
Fluad inactivated vaccine (for ages 65 and over)
Should I have the flu jab?
Studies have shown that the flu vaccine will help prevent you getting the flu. It won’t stop all flu viruses and the level of protection may vary; but it’s likely to be milder and shorter-lived that it would otherwise have been.
The vaccination reduces the risk of flu-associated acute respiratory infection, ultimately meaning that fewer people will get ill and their day to day lives won’t be affected by the illness.
Am I at risk?
There are a number of groups that are at risk, the groups listed below are eligible for a free Flu vaccine on the NHS. For more information, or to see if you are eligible, arrange an appointment with a GP or pharmacist.
